That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3 Coming Spring 2024 – All the Exciting Details

As someone who has been covering anime for over a decade, I’m thrilled to share the latest updates on the widely loved isekai series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. This smash hit fantasy anime is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2023, and supporters have lots to anticipate!

The most exciting news is the formal confirmation that That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 will start broadcasting in spring 2024 in Japan. This new season will likely adapt volume 7 of the light novel series, which features the highly expected confrontation between Rimuru Tempest and Hinata Sakaguchi.

Hinata is one of the most powerful human foes Rimuru has come across since becoming a Demon Lord. Their showdown pushes Rimuru to his limits. With the season 3 announcement artwork showcasing Hinata ready for battle, it’s apparent this fight will be the highlight of the new season.

This storyline is a major turning point in the story, as Rimuru struggles to reconcile his humanity with the immense power and accountability he now wields. The moral dilemmas Rimuru faces make volume 7 one of the most compelling and mature arcs yet. I anticipate the anime adaptation will delve deep into Rimuru’s inner conflicts surrounding justice, loyalty, and leadership.

In a more timely That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime update, a 3-episode OVA titled Coleus’ Dream will be released in spring 2024. This OVA adapts a bonus short story Fuse wrote centering on the Kingdom of Coleus.

The official visual displays Rimuru in disguise as “Satoru” sneaking into Coleus. We also get a first glimpse at new characters – the vampire demon lord Luminus Valentine and primordial demon Violet.

Having previewed the source material, it appears Rimuru is investigating political turmoil and demonic schemes surrounding the royal line of succession in Coleus. This espionage-styled narrative should make for an exciting OVA storyline.

Miho Okasaki, voice of Rimuru, will sing the ending theme song for the OVA. With Okasaki’s vocal talents and awesome character designs like Luminus and Violet, the Coleus’ Dream OVA is sure to thrill fans eager for more slime content before season 3.

In honor of the 10th anniversary, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is also getting a stage play adaptation that will run in August 2023 in Tokyo. Well-liked voice actors Yūma Uchida and Megumi Toyoguchi will star as Rimuru and Great Sage respectively.

Series creator Fuse is publishing a new short story along with a manga adaptation to celebrate the milestone. We can expect more anniversary projects and events to be announced leading up to 2023.

For those needing a refresher, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 2 concluded with Rimuru finally overcoming Clayman in an intense battle that compelled Rimuru to achieve an even higher level of demonic power.

Rimuru also strengthened bonds with the other Demon Lords like Milim at the Walpurgis gathering. The movie Scarlet Bond was a side tale that likely won’t connect to the main plotline.

There’s a possibility the spin-off lighthearted series The Slime Diaries could also get a third season. But for now, the main focus is on gearing up for the highly expected season 3 and Coleus’ Dream OVA.

As one of the most impactful isekai anime of the decade, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has defied expectations and set new standards for the genre. The addition of complex characters like Violet gives me hope that season 3 and beyond will continue to enrich the story and world.

Rimuru’s journey as he learns to balance power, loyalty, and humanity is sure to become more nuanced. I can’t wait to see how the anime adaptation will depict Rimuru’s ongoing growth as a leader and individual. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 is my most eagerly awaited anime of 2024 and these new announcements are exciting milestones as we count down to the next chapter in Rimuru’s extraordinary adventure!
